Cr(VI) is easy to be absorbed and a highly toxic carcinogen and accumulated in human body and one of the carcinogens. Activated carbon fiber is a kind of environmental protection material with excellent properties, good adsorption performance and plasticity, etc. In this paper, the activated carbon made by PAN was studied as the research object, and the modified treatment was carried out to remove the Cr(VI) from aqueous solution, and the effect of modification treatment on the properties of PAC was discussed. The influence of pH value, dosage of adsorbent, initial concentration and contact time were investigated via batch experiments. The results show that the activated carbon made from PAN is not only very strong, but also easy to be separated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the surface of the adsorbent was characterized. Transform infrared analysis (FTIR) showed that the functional groups in the adsorption materials ZnO. XPS analysis has indicated that the adsorption material, Zn-O, N-H, C-H, C=O and C-OH group. Zeta potential indicates that the surface of the adsorbent is positively charged. The sorption equilibrium time of chromium (VI) is 24 h. A series of experimental results show that the adsorption effect of PAC600 at different temperatures is better than that of PAC400. At the same temperature, the adsorption effect of PAC-0.8 on Cr (VI) was better than that of PAC-0.4. The effect of PAC600, PAC400, PAC-0.8 and PAC-0.4 on Cr (VI) was better than that of (PAC). Adsorbent in acidic conditions of the adsorption and removal of better, the adsorption of the most suitable pH range of 2-3. The adsorption behavior of Freundlich was better described by Langmuir isothermal model than the isothermal model of Cr, and the adsorption of (VI) and PAC-0.8 (PAC-0.4) was the main adsorption.
