Since human beings enter into the industrial era, all human's production activities in the society had great influence on the nature environment, and the environment pollution, especially the water pollution becomes more and more serious. A real-time monitor system is necessary, which was used to monitor the content of heavy metal in surface water and industrial waste water. This system not only monitors the quality of the water and trace pollution source real-time, but also provide a mass of original data for the research of environment pollution. An upper computer software for on-line automatic monitoring instrument in water is designed and implemented in this paper, which can control hardware of instrument to accomplish detecting process, and data collecting and analyzing can be transmitted from remote, realizing the remote real-time monitoring function.The developing environment of the software is.Net in this paper, using programming language C# with high efficiency and Integrated development environment Visual Studio 2010 supplied by Microsoft Corporation. The function of the software contains five parts: parameter configuration, communications, data collecting and analyzing, data memory and failure logging, different function is accomplished by different module. User can collocate communication configure with lower computer, GPRS data transfer unit, data collecting configure according to different monitoring heavy metal. The communications module provides communication links and data transmission. Data wave is processed in data collecting and analyzing module. The detection data is stored in data memory module and can be referred later. If the instrument breaks down in the process of operation, the failure logging record the anomaly information, which can help maintainers finding and solving the problems. The functions of the software in this paper contains: communicating with lower computer and controlling hardware of instrument to accomplish detecting process, collecting detection data and sending to the server in same local area network, using GPRS module to send data, including detection data, state of instrument, allowance of reagent, improving automation degree of instrument.Firstly, the whole design scheme of on-line automatic monitoring instrument for the concentration of heavy metal ion in Water is presented in this paper, then the component and functions of hardware in lower computer are introduced. The followed are the principle andrealization process of each module in the software. In the end, the effectiveness of the system designed in this paper is verified through the application in China's environmental station about WAOL2000 instrument. This system can monitor the content of heavy metal in water real-time, at the same time, it also can help the environmental monitoring department improving work efficiency.
