Aluminum as important engineering materials have been drawn great attention in the aerospace, automotive industries and household industries, due to their low weight, thermal conductivity and superior electronic. Porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes have been demonstrated to precisely control the dimension of the nanostructures, and have a high surface porosity(1010 pores cm-1), high surface area (180-250 m2 g-1). These unique properties make AAO templates very useful as the templated synthesis of low-dimensional functional nanostructure. Examples include electrochemical deposition, electroless deposition are the most popular techniques. Among them, the electroless deposition is of particular interest because it needn't electric power or modifying on the pore walls, by simply put porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template into electroless plating solution.First, multifunctional aluminum materials with superhydrophobic, magnetic and corrosion resistance properties were successful obtained by reduction of Nickel chloride salts on the pores of an anodic aluminum oxide template with a back side of Al sheet and then modified with STA. By applying with SEM,EDX,Tafel, and Water contact analysis, the effects of coating composition on the surface morphology and hydrophobicity of the as-prepared surfaces were detailed studied. The contact angle was 156.7°and sliding was as low as about 2°, revealed the superhydrophobic property. The Potentiodynamic polarization test in neutral 3.5wt.%NaCl solution shows that the as-prepared superhydrophobic surface has good corrosion resistance. Moreover the superhydrophobic surface has excellent magnetic property that can float on the water.Second, preparation of Janus metal particles on porous aluminum template via redox reaction, we report a basic and simple method for fabricating Janus metal (e,g,Ni,Cu,Sn,Co,Pd,Au,Pt) particles by putting the AAO template with a backside aluminum sheet into aqueous solutions of metal chloride salts, based on redox reactions of two galvanic cells to form metal atoms and subsequent size uniformity metal particles growth on the pores of AAO template, and last Janus metals particles are collected by ultrasonic from the AAO template. SEM images of a single metal particle pattern, revealing that the metal particle one face is like hemisphere and the other face is like plane or like flower. The Janus metal particles we achieved, which are Janus in different of physical properties, and the metal Janus particles are expected to have application in a various of fields, such as optical, electronic, catalytic and magnetic.
