Pyrite leaching acid water is a kind of acidic waste water with low pH and high concentration of sulfate ions.It is oxidized in effect of dissolved oxygen,water and microorganism.HESHAGNQIAO iron mine is an open pit magnetite with sulfur content in the tailings of up to 4.08%.According to the mine planning,there will be an ecological embankment in west of the stope consisting of tailings.It will pollute groundwater by Leaching out acid water from the tailings.After the exploitation,all the tailings will be backfilled into the stope,which will be another cause of acid water pollution.This paper describes the oxidation process of pyrite and calculates the rate of pyrite oxidation and the amount of mass released to the environment.Basing on the sulfur leaching experiments,hydro geochemical simulation of sulfur leaching and Analysis of water chemical characteristics in the research area,this paper analysis the leaching law of sulfur in pyrite and hydro geochemical process of pyrite leaching acid water,Based on the investigation of the geological,hydro geo logical conditions of research area,a groundwater flow model and a solute transport model are established by use GMS.These models are established to simulate the transportation of SO42-in groundwater system.This paper also reviews the prevention and control measures of pyrite leaching acid water to provide the basis for the iron mine production and environmental protection.
