4-Methyl-5-vinylthiazole is one of the most widely used vinylheterocycles,which are the useful synthetic intermediates for the syntheses of pharmaceuticals,flavoring substances,insect repellents and lubri cating oil additives,etc,and also have a broad application market.In this paper,the key issue in the synthesis of 4-Methyl-5-vinylthiazole through the solvent-free phase transfer approach lies in the development of catalysts.Since the traditional methods entail the consumption of a large amount of solvents,their industrial application outlook is not promising.On the contrary,the solvent-free phase transfer approach barely consumes any solvents,but the main challenge is to look for an appropriate phase transfer catalyst.Thus,the main focus of this work includes the development of phase transfer catalyst and its advantages over the traditional methods.
