Vertical wall cylinder part is a common structure components in sheet metal process, making use of incremental sheet forming process with outer contour supporting, a uniform thickness of vertical wall cylinder part can be formed rapidly without molds. So it is significant to study its forming path and parameterization.In the present paper, adopting a combination of numerical simulation and physical experiment method, the forming path of vertical wall cylinder part was studied, main including forming path design, forming path parameterization and forming path rapid generation. During the process of parameterization, cutting excess part method and sectionalized parameterization idea was put forward, which provided a reliable basis for parameterization realization.Aiming at the vertical wall cylinder part whose height-diameter ratio was 0.5, a four-stage fonning path strategy was designed. Great similarity could be found after comparing the forming paths of different diameter vertical wall cylinder parts, which was the precondition to achieve parameterization. Then based on the similarity, a standard forming path was able to be concluded. Taking these forming paths as function curves, analytic equations had access to be expressed by variable and constant values. At last, the relationship between variable values and geometrical parameter had to be built, which made the variable values generalized in a certain range. Besides, experiment and numerical simulation results showed that the parameterization process was credible. And then the fonning path was researched further with regard to the vertical wall cylinder part whose height-diameter ratio was 1.0 based on the part whose height-diameter ratio was 0.5, a seven-stage forming path strategy was designed to form the vertical wall cylinder parts, what's more, its forming paths wrer parameterized and the result proved to be exact.Although it was confirmed that the forming path parameterization was credible, the design process was still tedious because of the extensive calculation in their application. So in order to improve parameterization feasibility, Matlab program was applied to calculate in the paper, at the same time, in order to simplify the process from analytic equations to forming paths molding, the forming path model of vertical wall cylinder parts with various height-diameter ratio could be built by means of UG/Open Grip language at UG secondary development platform. The CAD model of forming path can be obtained immediately through the application program when the goal cylinder parts geometric parameters were input, including height-diameter ratio, diameter and the ordinal number of stage.
