Thermal expansion is a common phenomenon in our life, and it is also an important part in the research of material's thermal physics. It is necessary to consider the phenomenon of thermal expansion in aerospace industry and industrial processing. The thermal deformation can influence the selection of materials in production and engineering, so it is important to research the tiny change of the material's high temperature phase.This paper designs a kind of measuring method of non-metallic material's expansion w hen heated, and it can master the rule of thermal expansion in the high temperature. This measuring method uses high precision CCD technique to make a rapid and high precise non-contact measurement for the non-metallic material under high temperature heating,and makes an analysis of linear relation between the temperature change and tiny deformation. This paper chooses linear array CCD as measuring element and uses FPGA to make timing-driven and control each module of the measuring system, and communicate with upper computer through USB. This paper also provides the circuit design of each part and design of program flow.This research of the measurement system covers optics, electronics and photoelectrica l sensor technology. The paper can prove by experiment results that this system design is reasonable and reaches the requirement of measurement that can make a tiny deformation measurement for the materials.
