Focusing on the attractive research field of single molecule magnets, a series of novel lanthanide-based coordination complexes with different topology were prepare. The complexes were characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis, elemental analysis, IR analysis and magnetic properties. More details are follows:1. Self-assembly of Schiff-base H3L1 and H4L2, which formed by the in-situ condensation of isonicotinylhydrazide and 2-Formyl-1,8-naphthalenediol and2,7-Diformyl-1,8-naphthalenediol, respectively, with rare-earth salts, affords seven novel complexes 1-7. Magnetic susceptibility studies reveal that complex 5 shows slow relaxation of magnetization with a roughly estimated activation energy of 3 K.2. The complex 8 was prepared by the reaction of dysprosium nitrate with the H6L3 formed by the in-situ condensation of 2,7-Diformyl-1,8-naphthalenediol and salicylhydrazide. We studied in detail structure and magnetic properties of complex 8. Ac susceptibility measurements reveal a frequency-dependent out-of-phase signal, typical single-molecule magnet behavior.
