Since the discovery of C60 in 1980 s, porous carbon materials have attracted great interests from both science and technology. Metal-Organic frameworks are compounds consisting of metals or metal clusters and organic ligands linked by coordination bonds.Benefit from the variability of organic- metal framework structures, different materials such as porous carbon and graphene, or nanosized metal/metal-oxideparticlescould be obtained through high temperature annealing treatments. It is also reported that porous carbon with variouskinds of structurescould be obtained from high temperature annealing of different kinds of MOFs. The products are normally showcore/shell structure with metal nanoparticles as the core and carbon onions as the shell, where the thickness of carbon may vary.In this thesis, we are tried to synthesis mesoporous carbon with narrow pore size distributionthrough designed MOF precursora. A strategy made for our experiments is: 1. model novel MOF materials for a good C/metal ratio and conform the products by using electron microscopy methods; 2. estimate a good annealing temperature range by in-situ transmission electron microscopy studies; 3. high temperature anneal in ovens to obtain the C/metal complex; 4. Mesoporous carbon with narrow pore size distributions obtained by removing the metal components.By the help of this strategy, we designed and synthesized a novel Mn-MOF, performed electron crystallographic studies of the Mn-MOF by using electron diffraction tomography technique and finally obtained Mn/C core shell complex and mesoporous carbon products with narrow pore size distributions.
