In this thesis, the mini-channel technology which was making great progress nowadays was used in the hydrogen storage reactor, and a concise and efficient reactor, named Spiral Mini-Channel Reactor?SMCR? was developed. The reaction kinetics expression was established according to the characteristic of SMCR, and the main structure parameters were optimized. At last, a comprehensive performance evaluation system was used to evaluate the system performance of SMCR.At the beginning, a new Spiral Mini-Channel Reactor?SMCR? was developed based on the mini-channel technology by reforming the reactor structure. The reaction numerical model considering the thermo-dynamics and kinetics of hydrogen storage was establised. The process of finite element algorithm was analysed and the model was verified.After this work, the main structure parameters were decided mainly based on the hydrogen storage reaction performance and the optimized parameters are ra=2.2 mm, rc =5.5 mm, b=5 mm, r1=4 mm and N=3.The heat transfer and mass transfer process were then analysed in this process. The influence of operating conditions on the reaction process was studied, the operation condition is determined as ?p=0.6, k>2.5 W·m-1·K-1and h=1000 W·m-2·K-1 taking practical consideration. Other operation condition was not the same in process of absorption and desorption due to the reaction differences, which was P>10 atm, T<288.15K?absorption?; P<0.5 atm, T=353.15 K?desorption?.In the end of this thesis, a new type of hydrogen storage reactor based on the SMCR, named Ring Mini-Channel Reactor?RMCR? was expanded. The conclusion of this study, using a comprehensive performance evaluation system, is that the SMCR's overall performance Kc is 36.91 times of MCR, and RMCR is 1.09 times of MCR. This phenonmenon reveals that SMCR has a more effectively heat transfer ability compared with MCR and RMCR. This also means that SMCR can make more metal hydrides reacted in a unit time.
