Alcohol ether carboxylate (AEC) has the both characteristics of anionic and nonionic surfactants. And it has a wide range of application in surfactant field. In the traditional preparation process of ether carboxylic acid, besides fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether, we also need to add a lot of alkali. And the oxidant also often uses the expensive H2O2. Therefore it is of great significance to develop a kind of catalyst, which can make the fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether to the alcohol ether carboxylate in base-free system with O2.In this paper, we choose the selective oxidation reaction of AEO3 as the model reaction. We investigated the effects of different carrier materials, metal type and reaction conditions on the catalytic performance of the catalyst. The morphology and physic-chemical properties of the catalyst was investigated through nitrogen adsorption (BET), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). We also did the research on the effect of different reaction conditions. The main research contents and results of this paper are as follows:1. We prepared 5%Pt/ACl catalyst. In the oxidation of AEO3, the conversion rate reached 68%, the selectivity reached 85%, the yield reached about 60%.2. We investigated on the effects of reaction temperature, time, amount of catalyst, oxygen pressure and pH value. The catalytic performance of different noble metals and supported catalysts was explored.3. We found the reason of the performance improvement of the catalyst after reaction.
