The distribution and content of those radionuclides in the heavy-metal-containing sludge, released from downstream factories of chemical industrial, were investigated,in order to evaluate the impact,of the heavy metals and radionuclides within, from the mass flow of bottom industrial production to the environment. The influence on the environmental radioactivity level in soil outside of those factories, caused by chemical production process, was investigated also.We collected and measured the evidently heavy-metal-containing sludge samples from the area of some electroplating factories and battery factories. The radioactivity and concentration of those radionuclides, such as 228Ac,212Pb,212Bi,208Tl,214Pb,214Bi and 40K,existing in various specific sludge samples, were analysis on a High Purity Germanium y spectrometer?HPGe?.The estimated annual average effective dosage rate contributed by these sludge samples were calculated with Monte Carlo N Particle Transport Code?MCNP?dosage rate conversion factor. The enrichment level of radionuclides,232Th and 226Ra,during production was indicated by Enrichment Factor?EF?.We also attempted to connect the concentration of Pb,Cr or other heavy metals, and the concentration of radionuclide 232Th or radium equivalent activity?Raeq?by Pearson matrix to demonstrate the correlation between the amount of heavy metal and the radioactivity of the sludge sample. The results shows that the average effective dosage rate caused by the sludge from battery or electroplating factories was 44.8 ?Sv·a-1.The enrichment factors of radionuclides 232Th and 226Ra ranged from 0.478 to 2.217 and 2.509 to 4.115 respectively, indicating that thorium was enriched in the chromium-containing sludge samples, while radium was enriched in all sludge samples. After the analysis of data in Pearson matrix,it as above 0.8 for the correlation between heavy metal Pb or Cr and Raeq, revealed that the radioactivity of heavy-metal-containing sludge could be inferred from the content of Pb or Cr within the same sludge sample in practical monitoring task.We also evaluate the radiation envirornment effect to the soil surrounding electroplating chemical industrial by measuring the activity concentrations of 232Th and 226Ra deposited in soil, the results indicted the activity concentrations of 226Ra reach the maximum value away from the electroplating chemical industrial 5 meters exceed the background value about 22 Bq.kg'1,Farthmore,the activity concentrations of 232Th beyond the horizon within 15 Bq.kg-1 within 5 meters to 20 meters. The research work in this paper could make a contribution both to efficient radiation environmental monitoring and evaluation of the impact by TENORM.
