Due to the increasing urgency in solving the severe atmospheric pollution in China, the VOCs and PM2.5 source profiles become more and more important in air quality management, such as the source apportionment, development of VOCs and PM2.5 control strategies and air quality simulation. However, since VOCs and PM2.5 source profiles significantly varies with areas, applied technologies and fules, widely application of SPECIATE profiles in China in current state might affect the the control strageties and simulation results. Therefore,it is necessary to study on the differences between VOCs and PM2.5 source in china and those in SPECIATE database,as well as their influences on numerical modeling.Firstly, species profiles in china and the counterparts in SPECIATE database were collected and compared in terms of VOCs and PM2.5.Then,major sources with large differences of species profiles were identified.Meanwhile,we used air quality model to quanlity the impacts of the discrepancies between domestic profiles and SPECIATE profiles on O3 simulation and PM2.5 simulation. At last,by combining the differences in profiles and simulation results,we provide guidance for further study of species profiles in china in terms of source apportionment application and modeling study. The Results showed that:?1?with respect to VOCs profiles, great differences were found in mobile source, industrial solvent usage, architectural coatings, and industrical processes, such petroleum chemical and as pharmaceutical manufacture..Moreover,most domestic VOCs source profiles, including mobile sources and coating process, lack of OVOCs components, especially the aldehyde group, which is one of the most important components in O3 formation.?2?In terms of PM2.5 profiles, due to the differences in coal type, vehicle type, production technology and waste gas treatment facilities and so on,significant differences were found in stationary combustions, mobile sources, industry process and fugitive dust source. Moreover,we also found that studies on species profiles in China mainly focused on the sources or sub-process in industry with intensive emissions, which mean that much sources were ignored. This also partly led to the the difficulty in comparison study of sources profiles.?3?Results of Air quality model simulation show that the influence of VOCs source profiles of industry process on O3 simulation were significantly higher than those of mobile source and solvent usage. For PM2.5 simulation, discrepancies in PM2.5 source profiles impact the simulated concentration most, followed by those in industrial process and fugitive dust sources.
