Biodiesel is a fatty acid methyl ester(or ethyl ester),which is obtained by esterification of animal and plant,algae oil and methanol(or ethanol).Biodiesel can be used in the diesel engine through direct or mixed mode,and it is a green and sustainable alternative fuel because of good ignition,good lubrication,high oxygen content,less pollution and so on.In order to solve the low temperature fluidity and viscosity of biodiesel,this paper studied combustion and emission characteristics of engine fueled with biodiesel and different proportions of ether blend.This experiment was carried out in single cylinder diesel engine of ZH1105 W,In-cylinder pressure was recorded and heat release rate was calculated by combustion dynamic testing system;effective fuel consumption rate and effective thermal efficiency were calculated by tp-244 flow sensor and df-313 digital flow meter;CO,HC,NO_x and soot emission were tested using emission test system.The physical and chemical properties of bio diesel blend were described in detail.In order to further study the combustion and emission characteristics,the calorific value,density,viscosity,flash point of biodiesel and different proportions of ether blend were tested.In order to study the improvement of the combustion process of biodiesel by adding ethyl ether,the pressure in the cylinder was recorded,and the combustion and heat release were analyzed.The power,economy and emission characteristics of the engine were systematically studied,and compared with that of pure biodiesel.Experimental results show that when the engine fueled with biodiesel and ether blend,combustion have a slight delay,peak combustion pressure and peak instantaneous combustion heat release rate increases,heat release is more concentrated;power decreased less than 1%;effective thermal efficiency increased,fuel consumption rate decreased;HC,CO and smoke emissions decreased,but NO_x emission increased slightly.
