Bimetal steel strip are widely used in the fields of mechanical,construction,food service,shipbuilding,chemical industry,electronics,national defense,aerospace,metallurgy and so on.It has four advantages of high precision,high efficiency,energy saving and reducing consumption.The invention of bimetal steel strip known as a"revolution in metal-cutting",it also plays a decisive role and forms very huge independent industry on manufacturing in the world.Now the bimetal steel strip transcended and replaced the traditional cutting mode rapidly and became the mainstream tools in metal-cutting.But at present,the manufacturer of hob-milling cutter was few in China and the processing method was also not promoted.Basing on these reasons,this paper will summarize the previous experience in theory for the sake of obtain the basic processing principle of hob-milling cutter and make an in-depth and systematic study of series problems in the structure and processing technology.The research contents mainly include.(1)The technical status and development of metal cutting tool such as milling cutter,forming milling cutter and corresponding band-saw cutter in domestic and foreign are briefly summarized.(2)The machining principle of new profiling discontinuous interleaved milling model was analysed.According to some standard methods and combined with the actual situation,the basic parameters of corresponding cylindrical hob-milling cutter was calculated and selected.The 3D model of cylindrical and spiral groove hob-milling cutter was established in the platform of UG NX,The structure of the model was optimized and laid a solid foundation for the following finite element simulation.(3)The principle of different structure design and application of cone hob-milling cutter was clarified through the analysis of conical spiral surface theory,and the 3D model of milling cutter with variable pitch was established and puts forward two main relieving process in hob-milling cutter.(4)The stress analysis and motion simulation in process of machining the bimetal steel strips were carried out with Deform-3D,not only the processing advantages in the staggered tooth hob-milling cutter was verified,but also the rationality and feasibility of the design was verified by comparing the simulation and experiment.(5)Based on the manufacturing principle of bimetal steel strips,the basic law of hob-milling cutter was introduced;the contour error which was existed in the manufacturing process was described and this problem was solved by using the least square method;the main reason on burr which produced in the process of manufacturing was explained and several methods to remove burrs were put forward.The method which proposed in the article was feasible according to the experimental results.The research work of this paper provides a theoretical support for the design and optimization of hob-milling cutter which was used for bimetal steel strips.Meanwhile,it can be also used for a reference for other tool structure design and optimization.
