Ni-based catalyst is a good catalyst for hydrogen production by ethanol stream reforming,it exhibits strong capability of breaking the C-C bond in ethanol and enhance the H2 selectivity.In addition,it react at lower temperature.At present,the research of Ni-based catalyst are mainly concentrated in accessory ingredient and support modification,few research is concentrated in preparation method.This paper use a new preparation method and successfully get the Ni-based catalyst with excellent dispersion and reduction.Then we research the function of PEG during the process of catalyst preparation and propose a reduction mechanism.Also,we study the performance of hydrogen production and influence of different promoters.Our conclusions are followings:1.Successfully get the Ni-based Catalyst with excellent dispersion and reduction by new method.2.Through analysis of FT-IR and TEM,we consider PEG plays an important role,because of PEG,nickel clusters,distribution throughout the SiO2 is uniform.3.Propose a reduction mechanism:the formation of Ni-Ru alloy initially occurs by migration of metallic Ru clusters formed around 440K into the NiO clusters,the active hydrogen species generated on doped Ru clusters can diffuse more efficient by an intra-particular spillover mechanism that enhances the reduction of NiO clusters.4.The promoter Ru can greatly improve the conversion,but only the method of colloid has this performance.
