Laser transmission welding(LTW) is an advanced welding technology for plastics. LTW is superior to other plastics joining methods in many aspects.LTW process is a kind of flexible and efficient welding technology and through which micro-welding and the welding of part of dissimilar plastics can be fulfilled. Domestic researchers have done lots of research experiments about plastic laser welding processing,but the research and development of plastic welding machine is far less than the US and Europe.According to 214 fan leaf structural features and basic principle of laser transmission welding,we have developed a plastic laser welding machine and done simple experiments.The article makes an introduction of the development of domestic and foreign equipment and technology progress, at the same time, it raises the necessary for reaearch and development of laser plastics welding machine.It analyzes the principle of plastic laser welding,process parameters and basic welding methods. On this basis, the article assures the welding method of the machine which will be mentioned in the next chapter.According to the structural characteristics of the 214 fan, the article proposes functional requirements of plastic laser welding machine. Based on the functional requirements, it proposes the overall design concept, and design the various functions of the machine, especially focusing on the mechanical parts of the system design(ncluding part of the mechanical arm, special fixture of 214 fan, sheet metal cover and mobile working platforms). Then the article makes finite element analysis of key components of the plastic laser welding machine, including static analysis and modal analysis. It identify parts of the deformed region runtime by using Ansys workbench statics analysis, and doing optimization design for deformation area. While it makes modal analysis by Ansys workbench, to avoid the resonance in the operation. According simulation and optimization design of the critical components to meet the requirements of precision and stability, and ultimately ensure the welding quality of the 214 centrifugal fan.Then, we have done a simple engineering test(including drop test,high-speed test,balancing test and pull test)by using the plastic welding equipment. The final result showed that the centrifugal fan of laser welding is better than ultrasonic welding more or lese. So the plastic welding equipment for centrifugal fan effectively improving the quality of welding, the connection is better than the traditional welding way of plastic, and plastic laser welding will be widely used.
