Since the discovery of first host molecule crown ether, supramolecular chemistry has grown and developed rapidly in the past decades. As named host-guest chemistry identically, upramolecular chemistry has focused on the research of noncovalent interaction and played important roles for theory and application chemistry.Recently, charged macrocyclic moleclules has been reported as powerful host compounds not only for the novel strucutre, but also for the significant supramolecular binding abilities.Positive host can bind moderate and negative guests, and positive guest can bind moderate and positive guests. Moreover, charged host molecules showed remarkable application in moleclular recognition, photoelectronics, soft materials and molecular machines. This thesis has two parts, the first one is focus on the reseach of extended cationic cyclophanes, the second is about the sulfonated and carboxylated crown ethers.During the first part, several spacer is introduced to extended the bipyridine structure, and corresponding extended tetracationic cyclophanes. And we found tetracationic cyclophane extended by 1,4-phenyldiacetylene can form ring-in-ring complex with 38-crown-10.We also pyridazine extended tetracationic cyclophane, and investigate its highly templated-directed synthesis, the binding of PAHS and synthesis of [2] rotaxane. In the second part,we synthesis 36-crown-10 bearing two sulfonate and two carboxylate groups. At different pH condition, the carboxylate groups can be switched between carboxylate and carboxy acid, and the crown ether exhibit different binding strength toward several cationic guests accordingly.
