Application Of Traditional Chinese Style Lighting To Interior Design

Traditional lighting is an integral part of Chinese traditional culture.As Chinese traditional culture enjoys a long history,lighting has developed constantly and taken on unique charms for long stretches of history.Though China is a big lighting country,it hasn't been at the forefront of the world in modern lighting design.Lighting design should be combined with Chinese traditional culture in order to gain development.The thesis explores lighting's modeling design and design thoughts from historical and evolution development of Chinese traditional lighting and obtains inspiration from design philosophies of the ancients for modern lighting design.With the design philosophies adopted to modern lighting design,a set of lighting work of 5 pieces is designed and applied to interior design.There are varieties of Chinese traditional lighting and a majority of them have bionic characteristics such as animal-like lighting,plant-like lighting and human-like lighting and so on.The ancients have put forward the philosophy of bionics design as early as advocating learning from nature.As an important branch in the ancients' design thoughts,bionics design coheres the design philosophy that the ancients did well in finding design from nature and accords with the law that people recognize nature and transform nature.As life pace in modern society gets faster and faster,pleasant living environment is in desperate demands to ease people's pleasure.Modern lighting design should learn form the ancients'bionics design philosophy to acquire enlightening from nature,gain needed design forms and emphasize on people's material and spiritual needs with modern technical skills for better design and creation.The graduation design work takes bionics design,one of the ancients' design philosophies as guidance and branches,the Chinese traditional elements as the main body in creation.Under the guidance of adviser,field research is conducted on the form change of branches of several species of trees and 260 pictures of branches are taken as the practical basis and creation source.In design,30 pictures are chosen from 260 pictures to be the prototypes and to make element extraction.Support of the lighting adopts branches' form.5 most satisfying lighting design schemes are selected to make further modification from 30 sketched schemes.The lighting design lays emphasis on integrating with nature.For different lighting,chosen materials,color matching and lighting change are various in order to display the lighting's ecological characteristics and modern features and realize both aesthetics and functionality.At last,the design work is completed and applied to interior design in tea house.
