Aluminum foam sandwich(AFS)panels are a new developed type of material in recent years.And it has been widely applied in automotive,marine,aerospace,construction and other fields due to their excellent properties such as light weight,high specific strength,good energy absorbing capacity,good aseismic behaviors,low thermal conductivity and so on.Furthermore,the research on preparation technology and mechanical properties of AFS panels also has been the hot topic of domestic and foreign scholars.For the modeling problem of AFS panels,in the article,four kinds of simulation model generation systems of the AFS panels were put forward based on the previous model,including three kinds of 3-D model generation system and a two-dimensional model generation system and solved the problem of the hole wall thickness of the wall at the junction of the transition.Furthermore,the models of AFS panels were provided for researching the compression deformation and impact energy absorption properties of the AFS panels.The main work as follows:First of all.based on its structural features,the two-dimensional random models of the AFS panels were established by MATLAB and ANSYS software in this paper.In addition,in order to make the parameters such as model size,porosity,pore size range and the minimum wall thickness can be adjusted,and more convenient to use,the GUI user interface was designed.Secondly,to simulate aluminum foam sandwich panels further,the use of MATLAB and ANSYS three kinds of 3-D random model were established by MATLAB and ANSYS software.The method of the establishment of the first random model was eliminating sphere in the entity.The method of establishing the second kind of random model was generating an entity first.Then the entity was cut into finite element with the same size.Finally,the random model was generated by eliminating unit cell.The established models of the AFS panels in this paper laid the foundation for subsequent simulation study.In addition,the influence of size effect on the local compression mechanical properties of AFS panels was investigated through combining the quasi-static local loading tests and simulation.Furthermore,research results would provide theoretical basis and a preparation for the following research on connecting application and compressive mechanical behaviors of AFS panels.
