Sugarcane short fiber composite material has the advantages of relatively light weight of composite materials,cane fiber can replace wood resources and rich sources of sugarcane fiber,etc,is a kind of promising new composite materials.Its application range from automotive,construction and other infrastructure areas such as aerospace,shipbuilding and other emerging industries,in its application process requires a certain degree of stiffness and strength,and in some specific occasions require a higher stability.Therefore,the importance of research and analysis of its mechanical properties is self-evident.In this paper,SBF/PP composites were prepared by hot pressing process using Sugarcane Bark Fiber(SBF)and Polypropylene(PP)as raw materials.The sugarcane fiber / PP composites were prepared by blending SBF and PP for 15 min and holding time for 30 minutes at a temperature of 175? and a pressure of 1 MPa.The effects of different sugarcane fiber mass fraction and sugarcane fiber size on the mechanical properties were investigated.The main results of this paper are as follows:(1)Physical properties of SBF/PP composites were tested.The results showed that the fiber mass fraction of sugar cane and the size of sugarcane fiber had little effect on the density of composites,the density of SBF composites was 0.8g/cm3,the swelling rate of water absorption and the water absorption of SBF composites were all about fiber mass fraction,Fiber diameter,when the fiber mass fraction of 20%,particle size of 20-40 head,the 2 hours of water swelling thickness and 24 hours water absorption were the highest,respectively,3.9% and 2%.(2)The tensile,bending and hardness properties of SBF/PP composites were tested.The results show that the fiber mass fraction of SBF/PP composites increases with the same sugarcane fiber particle size,and the tensile strength and flexural strength decrease with the decrease of fiber diameter.With the increase of fiber mass fraction and the decrease of fiber particle size,the elastic modulus of SBF composites increases first and then decreases.The hardness of SBF composites does not change with the fiber mass fraction and fiber particle size.(3)Experimental study on fracture behavior of SBF/PP composites.The stress intensity factor of SBF/PP composites was measured by improved digital image correlation method.The results show that the effect of fiber size and fiber mass on the fracture properties of the composites is not obvious.The holes randomly distributed between the fibers and the matrix are the main factors affecting the fracture properties.The more holes in the composites,the more The greater the stress intensity factor,the less the pores in the composite,the smaller the stress intensity factor of the composite.
