Cotton fiber has been widely used in the fields of clothing,home furnishings,leisure and industry due to it's soft and take care of skin,sweat and breathable,warm and hygienic characteristics.However,the thermal stability and flame retardancy of cotton fiber is bad,which greatly limits its application in some special occasions.Cotton fiber is easy to burn and cause a fire,but also people's lives and property damage caused great damage.In order to solve the problem of flammable cotton fiber,we use the layer by layer self-assembly technology,a simple assembly method to lead functional materials in cotton fiber,and make cotton fabrics be flame retardant certainly.The selected system is mainly based on potassium alginate flame retardant system.Potassium alginate is a macromolecule derived from marine organisms.Studies have shown that the LOI for alginate is much higher than that of cotton fiber.And alginate is rich in sources,biodegradable,environmentally friendly and other characteristics make alginate be currently widely used in the field of medicine and other fields.The research content is divided into three systems:1.The chitosan(CH)/potassium alginate(PA)flame retardant coating was constructed on the surface of cotton fabric by layer by layer self-assembly technique.The self-assembly process was tracked by infrared spectroscopy,and it was found that self-assembled coatings exhibited similar linear growth.The results showed that compared with the cotton fabric,the cotton fabric after self-assembly coating treatment has more residual carbon residue after the test,and the residual carbon content increases with the number of self-assembled layers.The vertical combustion test showed that CH/PA self-assembled coating effectively reduced the burning time of cotton fabric and eliminated the smoldering phenomenon.Scanning electron microscopy found that after burning,CH/PA self-assembled coating to form an expansion of carbon layer,covering the surface of the cotton fiber,blocking the internal cotton fiber matrix and external heat and air contact.2.The use of layer by layer self-assembly technology in the cotton fabric surface construction of polydimethyl guanidine phosphate(PHMGP)/PA to obtain environmental friendly,flame retardant and antibacterial multi-functional cotton fabric.The growth of the assembled coating was monitored by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The results showed that the assembled coating increased linearly with the increase of the number of double layers.The thermal stability and flame retardancy of the coated and uncoated cotton fabric were analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis and vertical burning test.The results showed that the coating promotes the formation of carbon,reduces the burning time and eliminates the smoldering phenomenon in the combustion process.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)revealed that there were many intumescent bubbles on the surface of the cotton fiber after combustion,indicating that the PHMGP/PA self-assembled coating exhibited intumescent flame retardancy.Antibacterial qualitative and quantitative tests found that the assembly coating can effectively inhibit the growth of E.coli and Staphylococcus aureus,the inhibitory effect increases with the increases of the number of coating layers.3.Layer by layer self-assembly technology was used to constructed PHMGP/PA-carbon tube(CNT)functional coating on the cotton fabric surface to obtain environmental friendly,flame retardant and antibacterial,conductive multi-functional cotton fabric.The growth of the assembled coating was monitored by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The results showed that the assembled coating increased linearly with the increase of the number of double layers.The conductivity test showed that the assembly coating gave the cotton fabric conductivity due to the formation of the CNT network on the surface of cotton fabric.The thermal stability and flame retardancy of the cotton fabric before and after coating were analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis and vertical burning test.The results showed that the coating promotes the formation of carbon,reduces the burning time and eliminates the smoldering phenomenon in the combustion process.Antibacterial qualitative and quantitative tests showed that the assembly coating could effectively inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli,and the inhibitory effect increased with the increase of the number of coating layers.
