The epoxy organic coatings containing HMCM-22 zeolite modified by bis-(?-triethoxysilylpropyl)-tetrasulfide (KH-69) were prepared by coating method on the Mg-Li alloy surface. The dispersion stability of HMCM-22 (treated and untreated with KH-69)in xylene was evaluated by means of sedimentation test. The morphology of of epoxy coatings containing HMCM-22 modified by silane were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The macroscopical corrosion morphology of the coating was observed.Meanwhile, the effect of the KH-69 modified HMCM-22 content on anti-corrosion performance of the samples was assessed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).The EIS results show that the coating with 0.5% HMCM-22 modified by KH-69 silane provides the better corrosion performance among the coating samples. The ligands interaction between the silane, zeolites and the organic coating is also to be was proposed.The epoxy organic coatings containing HMCM-22 zeolites modified by y-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (KH-550) were prepared by coating method on the Mg-Li alloy surface. The dispersion stability of HMCM-22 (treated and untreated with KH-550) in xylene was evaluated by means of sedimentation test. The morphology of of epoxy coatings containing HMCM-22 modified by silane were characterized by SEM. The macroscopical corrosion morphology of the coating immersed in the 3.5%NaCl solution was observed.Meanwhile, the effect of the KH-550 modified HMCM-22 content on anti-corrosion performance of the samples was assessed by EIS. The EIS results show that the coating with 0.5% HMCM-22 modified by KH-550 silane provides the better corrosion performance among the coating samples. The ligands interaction between the silane, zeolites and the organic coating is also to be proposed.The epoxy organic coatings containing HMCM-22 and Ce-HMCM-22 zeolites modified were prepared by coating method on the Mg-Li alloy surface. The influence of HMCM-22 and Ce-HMCM-22 zeolite on corrosion protection of the epoxy coating was studied. The morphology of of epoxy coatings containing HMCM-22 modified by silane were characterized by SEM. Meanwhile, the anti-corrosion performance of two samples with time was evaluated by EIS. Artificial defects in the epoxy coating containing 0.5% Ce-MCM-22 on the Mg-Li surface were produced. And corrosion performance of damaged epoxy coatings was evaluated by EIS and SEM-EDS. These results show that the epoxy coating containing Ce-HMCM-22 exhibits self healing properties. Finally, the self healing construction and mechanism of the epoxy coating was proposed.
