Metformin is one of the most important hypoglycemic drugs of guanidine compounds.1,3,5-Triazine derivatives, synthesized from metformin, belong to specially versatile organic compounds of nitrogen-containing heterocycles and play an important role in the field of pharmaceutical pesticide, which has long been a focus in the research field.By proper modification of the structure of metformin,it is likely to obtain 1,3,5-triazine derivatives with good bacterial inhibitory activity and wide antimicrobial spectrum property, which can be better applied to the field of medicine, pharmacy, chemical industry, and so on.Therefore, the contents of this thesis mainly include the following three parts:(1)Metformin hydrochloride was synthesized from reaction of dicyandiamide and dimethylamine hydrochloride as raw materials.Scheme of synthetic route was reasonably designed in consideration of several aspects such as solvent, comparison of the ratio of reactants, reaction temperature, yield, influence of reaction time on product yield, and experiment process optimization.Eventually,an optimal scheme could be defined with simple and environmental advantages, which may be probably suitable for the industrial production.(2)Different synthetic methods of 1,3,5-triazine derivatives from metformin and important applications in pesticide industry(herbicides),UV absorbent, the pharmaceutical industry and the optical field were introduced in detail.Twenty-one 1,3,5-triazine derivatives were synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),infrared(IR)and ultraviolet-visible(UV)spectroscopies.(3)Interaction of metformin as a ligand with the metal ions gave metal complexes. The proposed reaction mechanism was investigated and further discussed in detail.Attempts to isolate a series of metal complexes with metformin ligands failed, notwithstanding, several metal-metformin complexes were characterized by way of UV-visible absorption spectral changes.
