Biological Aerated Filter(BAF)is a widely used biofilm process with good water quality,high economic efficiency and fast working efficiency in the sewage treatment technology.Its problems of uneven aeration and high energy consumption are also well known.Numerical simulation is an effective way to solve these problems.This study develops a special graphical user interface program for the automatic grid generation for the simulating of the flow field of aeration pipe systems.By selecting the type of aeration pipe arrangement in BAF process,and setting the relevant basic parameters,including the length and width of the pool,pipe diameters,number of branch pipes,the size and spacing of the aeration holes,the number of grid mesh,minimum spacing of the grid,etc.,click the command button to generate the geometric model of the aeration pipeline system,its uniform or non-uniform orthogonal grid for numerical simulation,and at the same time automatically define the boundaries of the grid.With numerical testing of each type of the aeration pipe system grid generated with the program developed,it is proved that the grid generation is of wide flexibility in setting model parameters and producing high quality grids for BAF aeration pipe system numerical simulation,fulfilled the task of this research.This GUI program developed may assist water plants using BAF in quickly carrying out numerical simulations of BAF aeration system,designing BAF with high efficient and low cost.
