Quantum dots(QDs)are a kind of semiconductor nanocrystals.In recent years,QDs attract much attention due to the quantum-size effect,surface effect,and tunable absorption-emission wavelengths.In IV-VI QDs,PbSe QD is remarkable due to the high quantum yield,low excitation threshold and high luminous efficiency.In this dissertation,we begin with the description that the PbSe QD doped silicate glasses are prepared successfully by using a high temperature melting method in lab.The obtained QDs in the glasses are in the diameter of 7.0~9.5nm and with the doped volume ratio of 2%.The glass shows strong photoluminescence(PL)emission,peaking at 1510~1730 nm wavelength and FWHM coming to 130~280 nm.Then,we describe the process that the QD doped fibers are prepared in lab by drawing this silicate glass and annealing heat treatment.By this way,we obtain the QD doped glass fibers in the diameter of 80~130 ?m,where the QDs in the fibers are in the diameter of 4.2~5.5 nm and with the doped volume ratio of 1% by the observation of transmission-electron microscope(TEM).Following,the flexibility of the QD doped fibers is tested,and the PL spectra of fibers are measured upon 980-nm pump by a fluorescence spectrometer.There is evidence to show that the available annealing condition of QD fibers is different from QD doped-bulk glass.When the annealing temperature is within 500~600? and the annealing time spans 5~10 h,the QD fiber shows strongest PL emission,peaking at 1300~1450-nm wavelength and FWHM coming to 200~330 nm.The optimum annealing temperature and time are 600? and 7.5 h.The QD doped fibers obtained in this study can be used to format QD-doped-fiber gain devices(e.g.,QD doped fiber amplifiers and fiber lasers)based on such glasses in the future.
