The extensive use of traditional polymer materials have caused intense pressure on the environment and the 'white pollution' seriously affects the human ecological environment.Research and development of completely biodegradable materials in line with environmental protection requirements have been an important trend worldwide.Biodegradable blends of Poly(lactic acid)(PLA)/Poly(butylene succinate)(PBS)will take advantages of the high strength and modulus of PLA and high flexibility of PBS,which will have the similarity of alloying effect.The PLA/PBS blends were studied in this paper and the main conclusions are listed as follows:1.The blends of PLA/PBS had been extruded with the reactive compatibilizer of epoxy functional styrene-acrylic oligomers(EFSAO)by using a twin screw,then the effect of compatibilizer on the compatibility,crystalline melting behavior,rheological behavior of the blends had been investigated.The research results showed that the ratio of PLA/PBS blends with best toughness was at 80:20 and with the addition of EFSAO,the toughness of blends had been improved.The compatibility of PLA and PBS and the dispersion of PBS phase had been improved obviously when mixed with EFSAO.Rheology test showed that the complex viscosity ?*of PLA/PBS blends were increased and the melt tend to be a wholly non-newtonian fluid.2.The film of PLA/PBS had been blown up by using blown film equipment and then the mechanical properties,light transmittance,aging resistance,degradability,crystallization of different formulas of PLA/PBS blends were analysted.The results showed that the zero shear viscosity of the PLA/PBS blends had been improved,which would be conductive to the stability of bubble when blowing up film.The film of PLA/PBS=80/20 blends performed well in the mechanical properties test.The longitudinal and lateral elongation at break had increased to 152.2%and 87.8%respectively with the longitudinal strength of 29.5Mpa after the addition of 0.5%EFSAO comparable to the regular film.Furthermore,Addition of EFSAO had decreased the crystallinity of the film,but improved the transmittance,ultraviolet aging resistance and degradability.3.Fibers of PLA/PBS blends had been prepared by melt spinning equipment and the impact of ratio of PLA/PBS blends on resin respinnability,mechanical properties,crystal orientation,moisture regain and surface microstructure of fibers were researched.The results showed that with the increasing content of PBS,the spinnability of blends decreased and it only could be produced fibers with excellent performance within 10%of PBS content.The strength of PLA/PBS fibers had been decreased but the elongation at break increased with the increasing content of PBS as well as the crystallinity and degree of orientation of fibers.There could be observed that from the picture of PLA/PBS fibers Surface Topography the surface became more roughness and the phase separation became severely when the content of PBS increased.
