Recent years,the problem of secondary pollution caused by fires and plastic-burning has aroused extensive concern.Non-halogen flame retardants have been widely used for the request of world environmental protection.The research of inorganic flame retardants has developed rapidly for its non-toxicity,high-efficiency and smoke suppression.Zinc borate,as a kind of environmental benign non-halogen flame retardant,has good properties and show large potential of application.Nowadays,2ZnO·3B2O3·3.5H2O,that is 2335 type zinc borate,is most used for the high dehydration temperature,above 250?.However,the manufacture of wood,plastic and rubber has to be carried out at higher temperature,about 300?400?.Thus exploiting hydrated zinc borate with higher dehydration temperature is essential.4ZnO·B2O3·H2O may have wider application in industry for its decomposed temperature is above 400?.The key factor affecting the use of zinc borate is the compatibility of zinc borate and polymers.Modifying the interface of zinc borate and increasing the lipophilicity by decreasing its facial potential is helpful to increase the dispersion and use of zinc borate in polymers.This paper has gained the best reaction conditions by analyzing the ratio of reactants and solids/liquids,reaction temperature and time.The appearances have been characterized by IR,X-Ray.SEM and TG.4 kinds of zinc borate were obtained by the modification of anion surfactants.The effects of the type and the quantity of anion surfactants such as sodium stearate,oleic acid,SLS,TBP on the modification of the interface of zinc borate have been discussed.Zinc borate with modified interface can form lower micelles and show good lipophilicity.Besides,reactions between zinc borate with modified interface and PMMA,polystyrene amino,polystyrene thioureido have been investigated and 3 types of polymer microspheres modified by zinc borate have been synthesized.Through the thermogravimetric analysis found that the characterization methods,zinc borate with modified can improve the thermal stability of polymer microspheres,including a detailed study of the modified zinc borate different additives on thermal decomposition of the influence of the temperature of amination polystyrene microspheres.The results of the study show that,add the modified zinc borate significantly raise thermal decomposition temperature of composite polymer microspheres,but the amount of the modified zinc borate add to the polymer microspheres thermal stability to a certain extent.Visible,zinc borate with modified can improve the thermal stability of polymer materials,surely,the formation of the composite materials there will be more widely used in the industry.
