Molecular-based materials, due to their potential application in the field of high-density information storage devices and quantum computers, attract more attention.The metal-radical route has been proved to be one of the most particularly fruitful synthesis methods in this field. In this paper, the main content is the design and synthesis of twenty complexes with different nitronyl nitroxides and rare earth metal salt and characterized by IR analysis, UV analysis, X-diffraction analysis, magnetic analysis and anti-bacterial property analysis. Main works are in the following:1. Five novel nitronyl nitroxides were obtained: NITPh-DOMe, NITTh-m-CH3 ,NITPh-(OCH3)2 , NITPh-5-F-3-CH3, NITPh-(OCH3)3.2. Nine complexes based on NITPh-DMe and Ln(?) ions (Ln(?)= Gd(1), Tb(2),Dy(3), Ho(4), Eu(5), Lu(6), Er(7), Pr(8), Nb(9) were synthesized and complexes 1-5 were characterized by X-diffraction analysis, magnetic analysis. Complexes were mononuclear triclinic system and Ln(?) ions were eight-coordinated. There were intermolecular hydrogen bonds in complexes 1-3, which made them three-dimensional net structures.3. Eight complexes based on NITTh-m-CH3 and Ln(?) ions (Ln(?)- Gd(10), Tb(11),Dy(12), Lu(13), Eu(14), Lu(15), Er(16), Pr(17)) were synthesized and complexes 10-12 were characterized by X-diffraction analysis, magnetic analysis. The structure of complexes 10-12 with mononuclear triclinic system were similar while the magnetic properties of them were different.4. Three complexes based on NITPh-(OCH3)2 and Ln(?) ions (Ln(?)= Gd(18),Tb(19), Dy(20)) were synthesized and characterized by X-diffraction analysis, magnetic analysis. All of them were mononuclear triclinic system and Ln(?) were eight-coordinated.5. The anti-bacterial properties of the nitronyl nitroxide and complexes were determined,and the results showed that the antibacterial property of Dy-nitronyl nitroxide complexes were unique.
