Our country is a big coal industry,but also by the threat of coal mine water disaster. At the present stage, there are still some coal mine flood accidents in our country, and the main factors that cause the water disaster are the rising of the groundwater level and the rupture of the fault zone. The conventional water level monitoring system can't directly observe the working condition of the water level measurement site, and can't judge the working state of the instrument according to the actual water regime. With the development of science and technology, it is very important to establish a set of safe and standard visual water level monitoring system for coal mine safety production.In the thesis,a new type of mine water level monitoring system is designed based on machine vision technology. The system first through image acquisition under real-time water level image, and then through the main control chip of the water level image after processing the data of water level, the water level data will be collected finally transmitted to the computer through ethernet. The computer can record the water level data in time and form the water level curve. If there is an abnormal situation, the monitoring staff can also be sent to send pictures or video surveillance to monitor real-time water level measurement site. The system provides first-hand information for the real-time monitoring of water level data and water level, and it is of great significance to monitor the water level of coal mine.In the thesis, the existing water level monitoring scheme and research status are analyzed firstly, and the future development trend of the water level measurement system is forecasted. Then by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of different water level measurement schemes,a water level measurement scheme based on image processing is proposed. According to the characteristics of coal mine underground, the whole structure of the system is analyzed and designed, and the corresponding hardware circuit is designed according to the function of each part of the system. Then,the main process of the monitoring system is introduced,and the working process of each subsystem is designed according to the requirements of each part of the system. Finally, the image processing algorithm is used to process the image, and the feasibility of the scheme is verified by experiment.
