Since the first discovery of aggregation-induced emission(AIE)phenomenon by Tang's group in 2001,many scientists have worked on the research of its fluorescence mechanism and abundant applications in various fields.On the contrary with conventional fluorescence aggregation caused quenching(ACQ)effect,AIEgens emit weak luminescence in solution,while strong emission in the aggregate or solid state.The discovery of AIE phenomenon creates a new gallery to solve vicious ACQ problem.Up to now,numerous fluorogens with AIE characteristic have been synthesized and applied in various fields such as chemo/biosensors,cell imaging,organic light emit diodes(OLED).Among these applications,AIE-based fluorescent polymeric nanoparticles have achieved prominence in the applications of cell imaging,effect of detection and cancer treatment.However,the inherent drawback of hydrophobic property for AIEgens limits their application in biological field.Enhancing hydrophilic property of AIEgens has attracted increasing attention from various scientists.Amphiphilic polymers can encapsulate AIEgens into polymeric nanoparticles by the self-assembly interaction to improve their hydrophily.But AIEgens can easily leak out from polymeric micelles,which would influorescent their application effect.Based on chemical modification,biocompatible polymers link with AIEgens to prepare fluorescent nanoprobes via conavlent progress,which could effectively resolve leaked problem of AIEgen from polymeric micelles.In addition,preparation of AIE-active fluorescent nanoparobes with different emission wavelength and fabrication of diagnose and treatment system are very important.The major aim of this work is that synthesis of numerous AIE fluorogens with different optical properties(ranging from blue emission to near-infrared emission)and special groups(amino,aldehyde,hydroxyl and double bonds),and adopte these AIEgens to fabricate AIE-active fluorescent polymers.This synthetic luminescent polymers can self-assemble into nanoparticles in aqueous solution because of their unique amphiphilic property.Thus-obtained AIE-active fluorescent nanoparticles(FNPs)possess good water dispersibility,ultra-strong fluorescence and excellent cytocompatibility.These outstanding characteristics make AIE-active FNPs have wide application potential for labeling cells.Furthermore,the anticancer drug cis-platinum has been conjugated onto the surface of AIE-active FNPs to fabricate therapeutic platform integrated fluorescent imaging with drug treatment.
