Sodiun succinate is widely used flavor enhancer in the food industry,feed additives,pharmaceutical industry intermediates and so on.Currently the industrial preparation method of sodium succinate is that succinic acid mixed with sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide,and get product after dehydration and drying.Maleic anhydride or maleic acid as raw materials,sulfuric acid solution as the electrolyte.Lead dioxide or noblemetal anodes(ruthenium Iridium titaniumanode)as the a node,The succinate of need is synthesized by electrochemical methods in the non-diaphragm electrolyzer generally.Lead dioxide anode is easily corroded and fallen off,affect product quality,while the investment cost precious metals anode is higher,and require regular repaired,so that it increase production costs.For these reason,the work attempts to synthesis of sodium succinate by one step in alkaline system.In the non-diaphragm electrolyzer,maleic sodium as raw materia,nickel or stainless steel as anode,synthesis of sodium succinate by cathodic reduction.avoiding the use of the precious metal anode,and simplify the production process of sodium succinate,in order to reduce the cost of production of sodium succinate.Using cyclic voltammetry,linear sweep,timing power and other electrochemical tests,we study characteristics and dynamics of maleic sodium in the electrochemical reduction of the lead and nickel electrode systematically,and compare to the electrochemical reduction efficiency on the lead and nickel electrode at the different current density,temperature and alkali concentration,and combined with ion chromatography to quantify and quality the characterization of the reaction product,at the same time do some research on anodic corrosion of stainless steel.The better conditions for the synthesis of sodium succinate in the experimental design factors are::Current density is 1100 A/m2,the temperature is 50 ?,Concentratiun of maleic is 1.4 mol/L,the concentration of NaOH is 1 mol/L,the yield of sodium succinate is 36.4%,the current efficiency is 48.7%.It is further studied to improve current efficiency and product yield.
