The convenient detection of sibutramine(SIB)has been widely explored with the use of various techniques. It still remains a challenge to achieve sensitive but simple, rapid and inexpensive detection of the synthetic anorexic drug illegally adulterated in natural slimming product. Here,we report surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)coupled with chemometrics analysis for the direct discrimination and detection of SIB and its analogues like mono-desmethylsibutramine(MDS)and di-desmethylsibutramine(DDS)in Konjac tablet(KT)by employing silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs)sensor. It has been demonstrated that the obtained raw SERS spectra of the three target analytes only exhibited some differences. After second derivative transformation and discriminant analysis, the differences looked much more clear, especially for MDS and DDS in the range from 1000 to 1600 cm-1.Additionally,partial least-squares(PLS)regression was used for quantitative analysis of spiked samples. The correlation coefficient R value of actual values vs.values calculated with PLS model for SIB,MDS and DDS spiked in KT was 0.995,0.991 and 0.954,respectively.Meanwhile,for each analyte spiked in KT,the limit of quantitation was 0.500 mg g-1,and corresponding recovery was in the range of 97.6-106%,102-105%and 96.2-103%,respectively.These results reported herein showed potential for analysis of SIB and its analogues adulterated in natural slimming product by SERS method.
