The treatment and discharging of effluents are one of the main problems related to the ecological environment.With the rapid development of economy,the amount of effluents produced has increased year by year.The effective treatment of effluents is related to the natural resource and sustainable development.In recent years,advanced oxidation processes gradually becomes the focus of effluent treatments around the world,because of its generation of hydroxyl radicals which have the strong oxidation ability to degrade a variety of organic pollutants.This paper aimed to investigate the effectiveness of ozone based advanced oxidation processes in treatment of three kinds of effluents in a rotating packed bed(RPB).The technique of RPB combination with O3 or O3/Fenton is used to treat reverse osmosis(RO)concentrated water,color coated steel plate effluent and polyoxymethylene(POM)effluent.The degradation efficiency was evaluated in terms of chemical oxygen demand(COD),biological oxygen demand(BOD5)and biological oxygen demand/chemical oxygen demand ratio(BOD5/COD)under various operating conditions.It includes two cost analyses about color coated steel plate effluent and POM effluent.The main results are as followed:1 In the treatment process of O3 to RO concentrated water,the COD removal rate was 20.7%under the most proper conditions.In the treatment process of O3/Fenton to RO concentrated water,under the most proper conditions,the COD removal rate were 18.6%,32.6%and 48.4%through RPB once,cycle for 10 minutes and 30 minutes respectively.In O3 and O3/Fenton treatments intensified by RPB have a certain effect on the RO concentrated water.2 The COD removal rate of color coated steel plate effluent is generally more than 80%with the treatment of O3/Fenton.The COD removal was 99.7%under the optimum conditions.The treatment process of O3/Fenton has a good effect on color coated steel plate effluent.The new equipment costs a total of 1.5744 million yuan and treatment of per cubic meter effluent costs 1.84 yuan in practical plant.3 The degradation of POM effluent by O3 in RPB was investigated under different operation conditions in this work.It was found that the O3-RPB system can significantly improve the biodegradability of the effluent.A pilot treatment experiment comprising O3-RPB unit coupled with a biological contact oxidation(BCO)unit was also conducted under the optimum conditions.The COD removal rates in the pilot process increased to about 75-85%compared to about 40%in the original treatment process in the plant.The new equipment costs a total of 5.368 million yuan and treatment of per cubic meter effluent costs 1.87 yuan in practical plant.
