The rapid development of national economy constantly facilitates industrial production machines moving towards a direction of high precision?high speed and multi-functions.The reliability and life problems of the workpiece which works in a strict environment are of great importance, thus correlational researches of the machining surface quality receive extensive attention and value.Ground finish can achieve higher processing precision and smaller surface roughness, which is the main method of precision machining and ultra-precision machining.Point grinding is a new type of cylindrical grinding process which is a combination of CBN super abrasive grinding wheel?CNC technology and high speed grinding technology. It has excellent processing performance and characteristics of both high surface quality of grinding and high productivity of turning.Point grinding is one of the most advanced form of technology in the field of high-speed grinding. The workpiece surface formed by point grinding is different from the ordinary grinding in terms of textural features. This geometrical feature can affect technical performance and using function of components, such as surface abrasive resistance, contact stiffness, fatigue strength and fitting property, etc. Therefore,do research on characteristics of homogenization of point grinding surface micro-topography is of great significance. This article focuses on the research from the following aspects.Firstly, the generating mechanism of component surface topography and its impact on using performance is confirmed. The unique advantages of traditional grinding is clear. The disadvantages of stability and reproducibility in the whole grinding process have been analyzed. On the premise of the above aspects,it analyzes the concept and technical feature of point grinding. In the process of point grinding, there is a variable angle named a between grinding wheel and workpiece that gives rise to the motion trail of abrasive particles is changed.Besides, the surface integrity, especially the surface textural features are other than conventional cylindrical grinding. Then, use 45 steel as the experimental specimen and select typical grinding parameters. After respectively using point grinding and ordinary grinding to process the two groups of specimens,SEM is employed in getting the surface micro-topography.By comparison, the surface textural features by using these two kinds of processing methods are analyzed.TR300 surface profiler is put to use to obtain the component surface profile curve and surface roughness later.Afterwards, combining digital expression of autocorrelation function with cross-correlation function, correlation analysis method of random process is applied.Write a program using MATLAB application development tools to acquire the autocorrelation?cross-correlation function curve and relevant correlation coefficient of two different machining surface, and then quantitatively evaluate geometrical features of micro-topography of point grinding surface, seriously analyze its characteristics of homogenization.Discuss and reach the influence of point grinding variable angle and grinding depth on component surface roughness. At last, through analysis of experimental results,it is concluded that point grinding improves grinding conditions. At the same time, the characteristics of homogenization exist in the machining surface enhance component surface quality and reduce its surface roughness.
