Tailings pond is an important facility in the production of metal mines.To ensure its stable operation is not only related to the normal production of the mine,but also to the safety of the lives and property of the residents downstream of the pond area.Therefore,the safe operation of tailings pond has been paid close attention to by the government supervision departments and mining enterprises.This paper takes the project of Xinshuicun tailings pond of Lincang mineral company in Yunnan province as the object of study.A comprehensive research method combining theoretical analysis,laboratory test and numerical simulation is adopted.The static and dynamic stability of the tailings dam are systematically analyzed and studied,providing technical support for the design,construction and production management of the tailings pond.The main research contents and results are as follows:(1)According to the survey and preliminary design data of tailings pond,the physical model test of 1:150 scale is used to deduce the accumulation process of the tailings dam.The deposition law of tailings on the dry beach surface,the structure of tailings dam and the variation characteristics of the phreatic line are obtained.(2)The physical and mechanical properties tests of three kinds of tailings(tail medium sand,tail powder sand and tail silty clay)are carried out.The physical and mechanical indexes such as particle gradation,permeability coefficient,shear strength parameter and compressibility coefficient of three kinds of tailings are obtained.The relationship between dynamic strength and vibration order,dynamic modulus,damping ratio and dynamic strain of tailings under different confining pressures and different consolidation ratios are analyzed.The dynamic parameters of three kinds of tailings are obtained.(3)The stability of dam under the limit equilibrium method(ordinary Method and simplified Bishop method)are calculated by using the SLOPE/W module of Geo-Studio.The safety factor of the dam under different dam height and different working conditions(normal,flood and special)is obtained.And reinforcement measures are adopted when Safety factor does not meet the specification requirements.(4)The dynamic aseismic stability of tailings dam under different dam heights and different working conditions is analyzed by time history method.The distribution law of the maximum horizontal acceleration,the maximum shear stress ratio,the liquefaction zone,the permanent deformation and the variation of safety factor of the dam under different conditions are obtained.In addition,the seismic response characteristics of the dam under different conditions are analyzed and discussed.
