Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene(ABS)and polypropylene(PP)are the most widely used thermoplastic materials.ABS has good comprehensive performance,high impact resistance,excellent electrical properties,easy painting,coloring and so on,but its chemical resistance is not good,easy to moisture absorption,must be fully dried before using.PP has a small density,almost no water absorption,good solvent resistance,low relative prices.The purpose of this paper is to blend ABS with PP to have advantages of two materials,not only improve the water absorption and solvent resistance of ABS,but also guarantee the good mechanical properties.The PP grafted polystyrene(PP-g-PS)was synthesized by ? pre-irradiation and the suspension grafting technique.ABS/PP/PP-g-PS blends were prepared by melting blending,which included two main systems(ABS/PP(80/20,70/30)).The water absorption properties,solvent resistance,morphology,thermal,mechanical and rheological properties of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS were investigated.DSC results showed that the melting temperature of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS increased with the increase of PP-g-PS.The brittle fracture surface and impact fracture surface morphology proved the compatibility is improved.The results showed that the water absorption rate decreased significantly,and the water absorption rate of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS decreased by more 40% compared with ABS.The solvent resistance of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS was improved obviously,and the surface of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS was almost unchanged after immersion in acetone,and the solvent tensile strength was obviously increased.The mechanical properties of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS were also enhanced with the increase of the content of PP-g-PS.Grafting of PP-g-F and ABS-g-F was prepared by reactive extrusion technology,and the antistatic,mechanical and rheological properties of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS blends were studied.The morphology showed that the small molecules of antistatic agent were dispersed uniformed in the blend.With the increase of the antistatic agent,the tensile strength of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS decreased and the surface resistance of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS decreased by 3 to 4 orders of magnitude and gradually stabilized.The comprehensive analysis showed that the absorption and solvent resistance of ABS/PP/PP-g-PS were improved obviously,and the mechanical properties were good,and the complementary advantages of the two materials were achieved.
