The clay was modified by intercalating the intercalate agent into the clay layer structure.Through the pillar role of intercalate agent,the d-spacing of clay was increased,interlayer domain environment was changed,thereby the performance profile is impacted.Illite clay is a kind of clay mineral of rich resources and wide distribution.While because of its strong bonding force between the layers,it is difficult for illite clay to intercalate the agents into the interlayer and the research on illite is few.So the study on choosing the appropriate intercalating method and guide agent is of important practical significance on intercalating illite clay.KAc,urea and DMSO of strong polar were chosen as the intercalators,the microwave was applied to promote the intercalating process.XRD and infrared spectrum analysis were used to characterize the influence of intercalating process on the domain structure of the layer.The results show that the clay layer spacing d002 of Longyan clay and Exbland-SG clay increases from 10.06 ? to 14.29 ?.The particle size distribution and adsorption performance were analyzed by SEM,laser particle analyzer and spectrophotometer.The average particle size of modified clay declined from 3.714 ?m to2.881 ?m,the particle size distribution range was narrower and the coarse particle decreases.The adsorption capacity of modified illite clay increased,intercalating modified Longyan clay adsorption of methylene blue as an example,the maximum sorption capacity reached 28.49 mg/g,42% higher than that of unmodified.The polyacrylic acid of small molecular weight was chosen as the intercalators,situ polymerization and solution method were respectively used to intercalating illite clay.Solution method successfully prepared polymer intercalating illite clay.The workability of polymer modified clay was improved.As the molecular weight was 1800 g/mol,the plasticity of mud with 20 wt% of water content improved from 0.37 m·N to 1.68 m·N,increased by 465%?...
