Fuel cell is an equipment which can translate the chemical energy in fuel and oxidant in fuel cell into electric energy via electrochemical reaction directly,owning the advantages of high energy conversion efficiency,high energy density and pollution-free discharge.The extensive application of fuel cells is of great significance to solve the problems of resource shortage and environmental pollution faced by human society.However,the development of fuel cells is limited by the cost of the cathode catalyst.At present,the platinum-based catalyst is still the main cathode catalyst of fuel cell.But platinum resources are scarce and expensive,which seriously hampers the commercialization of fuel cells.Therefore,to develop a high-efficiencyoxygen reduction catalyst that is of low-cost and the sources of raw materials are extensive is an effective to promote the commercialization of fuel cells.It is found that carbon-based non-noble metal oxygen reduction catalysts have good oxygen reduction catalytic activity.These raw materials to prepare the catalysts are easily obtained and bargain price,besides,the preparation method is relatively simple.Thus,they are promising alternative to platinum-based catalysts for fuel cell cathode oxygen reduction catalyst.Reference to previous work,in the experiment,the butterfly wings were first put forward to use as the preparation material,they were prepared by high-temperature heat treatment in N2 atmosphere,carbon black was intruducted at the same time.then co-doping iron,cobalt and nitrogen,a novel carbon-based catalyst(Fe/Co/N/C-BW)was prepared.Electrocatalytic characterization shows that the catalytic has excellent performance with onset potential and half-wave potential of 1.040 V and 0.903 V,respectively,56 mV and 41 mV above the commercial Pt/C catalyst.The innovation of this experiment is that for the first time butterfly wings are used as catalyst preparation materials.The carbon-based oxygen reduction catalysts with excellent catalytic activity are prepared by co-doping of transition metal,nitrogen source and carbon source.The special porous structure of the butterfly wings provides attachment sites for the oxygen reduction catalytic active sites,and is conducive to the transfer of the oxygen molecules in the oxygen reduction process.Iron,cobalt and nitrogen doped in the high-temperature heat treatment process provide the necessary elements for the formation of active sites,and the carbon black BP2000 doped enhances the conductivity of the catalyst.The preparation method provides a novel idea for the using of insect wings-like biological material in the preparation of fuel cell cathode catalyst.
