In most of industrial applications,polymethacrylates exhibit excellent performance and low cost.Moreover,the property of these copolymers can be easily tuned by the kind of monomer.In all the elements in the periodic table fluorine atoms(3.98)has the highest electro-negativity.It has two significant features that are the smallest radius of Fan Dehua(0.132nm)besides hydrogen atom and high C-F bond energy(540 kJ/mol).Because of these properties of fluorine atom,the F atoms was introduced into the polymethacrylate in order to improve water-oil repellency of these polymers.And the water-oil repellency is the preferred property for the polymethacrylate copolmers using as a conformal coating for electric circuit.Therefore,in our study two methods involving radical polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization were explored to synthesis F-containing polymethacrylate.The obtained copolymers were further investigated in their film forming property,hydrophobicity,and fluorescent property.As for the radical polymerization method,a series of polymethacrylate with various FMA and GMA content were prepared by using MMA,FMA,GMA as the monomers.The polymers showed high hydrophobicity and good film forming property and can be expected to use as a conformal coating for electric circuit where detectable fluorescent was not necessary.To intoduce fluorescent function,atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP)was employed to synthesis fluorescent PFMA-MMA copolymers from FMA and MMA,using bromide terminated perylenediimide(PBI-Br)as the initiator.The obtained polymers not only have high hydrophobicity and good film forming property,but also can ben easily detected by fluorescent light.The fluorescent polymers might be used instead of the expensive imported products for fluorescent-detectable electric circuit coating...
