The grafts of POE-g-GMA and POE-g-(GMA-co-St)were prepared by melt grafting.The pure POE and the two grafts were blended with PBT respectively.The effects of three elastomers on the mechanical properties of polybutylene terephthalate(PBT)were studied.The results showed that under the same conditions,the toughing effect of POE-g-GMA was not obvious,and the POE-g-(GMA-co-St)modifier was achieved the best toughening effect,which greatly improved the performance of PBT,the impact strength of the blend is more than ten times than the first two modifiers.These three different modifiers had little effect on the elastic modulus and yield strength of the blends.But the bending strength decreased with the introduction of GMA and St to a certain extent.In general,the introduction of GMA and St played a positive role in the toughening of PBT.POE-g-(GMA-co-St)was synthesized by melt grafting.The effects of different kinds of POE on toughening PBT were investigated.The results showed that the content of GMA had an effect on the mechanical properties of the blends.When the GMA content was 1%,the toughening effect of the blend was the best,and the impact properties of the blend were improved with the addition of the modified elastomers.When the content of elastomer was between 10% to 15% the brittle-ductile transition can be completed.And the tendency of the impact strength of the blend to increase was gradually reduced.The tensile properties and bending properties of the blends gradually decreased with the increase of the amount of elastomer,however,the GMA content had little effect on them.Different grades of POE elastomers were used to modify the PBT to explore the effect of the physical properties of the raw materials on toughening.The GMA content used in the experiment was the same.The results showed that the physical properties of POE had an effect on the behavior of toughening PBT which indicated that the toughening effect of different grades modified POE were affected by their physical properties to a certain extent.The effect of two kinds of elastomer synergistic toughening PBT was investigated.The POE was mixed with EPDM,LDPE,LLDPE in different propertions,and ensure that the fraction of the modifier was the same.The effects of EPDM,LDPE and LLDPE on the mechanical properties of the blends were investigated by introducing EPDM,LDPE and LLDPE in the PBT/POE blends.The results showed that in the process of toughening PBT,the functionalized pure POE had the best toughening effect on the blends.The introduction of LDPE and LLDPE significantly reduced the mechanical properties of PBT/POE blends.But the amount of the introduction had little effect on the performance of the blends.
