With the rapid development of nuclear energy and nuclear technology industry,nuclear safety and radiation safety have caused extensive concern.Radiation shielding materials and equipment can efficiently reduce the harm of radiation,which is urgently needed.This thesis is based on the practical needs in the nuclear radiation protection field and develops novel flexible radiation shielding materials.Several kinds of functional nanoparticles/silicone rubber composites,functional nanoparticles modified silicone rubber/alloy fiber composites were designed and successfully fabricated.The main research work and results are as following:(1)The radiation shielding properties of single species functional particles(Pb,W,WO3,Bi2O3,Gd2O3,Sm2O3,B4 C etc.),mixed functional particles,functional nanoparticles/silicone rubber composites were simulated using WinXCom software and studied.Functional particles were selected and optimized via simulation.Bas ing on the practical needs of flexible radiation shielding mater ials,a kind of non-metal/metal radiation shielding composite was proposed,which was mainly made of functional nanoparticles modified silicone rubber and alloy fibers.(2)Functional nanoparticles(W,WO3,Bi2O3,Gd2O3,B4 C etc.)modified silicone rubber composites were fabricated.The functional particles content,element ratio and surface modification of functional particles were studied in detail.The results reveal that functional nanoparticles can improve the radiation shielding ability of silicone rubber,which should be controlled in order to keep their thermodynamic performance;Surface modified functional particles can be well dispersed in silicone rubber,which is good to their radiation shielding abilities;Optimized combination of several kinds of functional particles can make full use of K edge adsorption and improve their comprehensive protection performance for ? ray and neutron.(3)Functional nanoparticles modified silicone rubber/alloy fiber composites and a kind of flexible protective shield were fabricated and studied in detail.The main fabrication processes are as following: Alloy fibers with certain strength and flexibility were produced via mechanical process;Alloy fibers were covered with non-metal fibers to improve their machining properties;Composite fibers were automatically knitted to form composite fabrics;Functional nanoparticles modif ied silicone rubber and composite fabrics were made together to improve their comprehensive protection performance;Flexible protective shield were produced via packaging.The as prepared flexible protective shield has high radiation shielding properties(137Cs ? protection ratio-74%,radiation protection inhomogeneity <10%)and good comprehensive performance,which can be easily used.
