Intumescent flame retardants are developed with halogen-free flame retardants,which has advantages in low toxic,environmentally friendly and good performance of flame resistance.Melamine borate(MB)is a new,non-toxic and environmentally friendly intumescent flame retardant.The current Currently,MB flame retardant has low flame-retardant efficiency and its compatibility with the polymer material are poor.According to the above problems,this paper designs to synthesize melamine borate flame retardants with high boron content and high flame retardancy by using boric acid and melamine as raw materials,and further reseaches the flame retardancy and the mechanism of behaviour that fiber structure strenthende carbon layer.The specific contents and consequences are as follows:(1)Synthesis and application of melamine borate Fiber First,The flame resistance of the composites H3BO3/ EVA and charring performance was tested by TG analysis,UL94 combustion test.Then,the melamine borate complex was synthesized with boric acid and melamine: The effects of different reaction conditions on the growth of MB fibers and the flame retardancy and mechanical properties of MB/ EVA composites were investigated.The results show that the addition of flame retardant can reach UL94 V1 level at 50%,the elongation at break reaches 40% and the tensile strength reaches 3MPa.The agglomeration of flame retardant powder in EVA is the main reason for its poor mechanical properties and limited flame retardant efficiency.(2)Modification on MB and application performance of its modified product.The modificated experiment was designed that adding amine to the reaction of boric acid and melamine by chemical modification: The effect of different reaction conditions on the modification and the flame retardancy and mechanical properties of the composites was reseached.The The results show that the composite material is combusted to form a dense carbon layer,which shows a better ability to separate the gas and heat.The modified MB/ EVA composite can reach UL94 V0 when the content of modified MB is 50%.At the same time,because of the good dispersibility of modified MB and EVA,elongation at break up reaches 800% and tensile strength reaches 8MPa.
