Ethylene glycol(EG)is the simplest dihydric alcohol.As a kind of basic industrial chemical material,it is widely used in the production of polyester fiber,polyester plastics,anti-freezing agent,lubricant,etc.The main manufacturing technique of EG contains hydration model,catalytic hydration model,ethylene carbonate model,etc.The most widely used and most reliable method remains hydration model.Firstly,ethylene is oxidized to form ethylene oxide(EO)with Ag as a catalyst.Then EO hydrates to form main product EG,DEG,MEG.Based on a producing EO/ EG process from a petrochemical enterprise,this paper completed a steady simulation and dynamic simulation of EO/ EG process.The main point of this work is the two reaction sections and the affiliated purification sections.Accurate simulation should be based on the acquire detailed knowledge of the process,so we should read over the PFD and find out the information of feed,plant,etc.The dynamic simulation is based on the results of steady simulation.At the start,this paper established a general process simulation platform.The platform contains the mathematical modeling of physical property data,thermodynamics method,unit operations,control model and so on.By using proper solving method,the platform could calculate the whole process.The result reveals that the process design is reasonable so as to verify the accuracy of the established dynamic models.The improvement measures are proposed for the further optimization of the process.
