With the huge changes of the market environment in manufacturing industry,the market becomes more and more intense competition.Manufacturers have to focus on shortening the development cycle of new products and reducing manufacturing costs,thereby occupy the market quickly and improve the competitiveness of enterprises.The most critical is the rapid development of the mold at low-cost.Injection mold CAE technology can verify the rationality of mold design,improve the quality of mold,and shorten the development cycle as well.Because the quality of mesh partition seriously affects the accuracy of CAE analysis results,it is necessary to establish a reasonable numerical model with high quality mesh.In this paper,the research of the surface mesh generation technology is carried out based on the STL mesh model,and its application is extended to study the hierarchical slice algorithm based on STL grid model.In this paper,STL format file is used as the unified data interface,and the reading of STL grid model is realized by using VC ++ 6.0 and OpenGL graphical interface technology.Meanwhile,the redundant information of the model is eliminated and the topological relation of the model is established.In addition,the visualization and dynamic transformation operation function of the model are developed as well.A new feature edge extraction algorithm for STL model is proposed by analyzing the feature edge extraction algorithm published in past years.After comparing with other feature edge extraction algorithms in terms of completeness and time efficiency,the results show its good robustness and high efficiency in profile generation of the model.An improved algorithm for Delaunay triangular mesh generation in planar domain is proposed.First of all,the surface segmentation of the STL grid model is realized.Secondly,the segmented surfaces are mapped into the two-dimensional plane.And then the mesh is generated by the improved Delaunay triangular algorithm in planar domain.Using Laplace smoothing algorithm optimized mesh is generated again.Finally,the surface meshing of STL grid model is realized by reflecting the planar mesh back into the segmented surface.Based on the STL mesh feature information,a new adaptive improving hierarchical algorithm is presented.Efficiency of the algorithm is analyzed and compared with uniform thickness hierarchical algorithm.Based on a series of researches as mentioned above,the surface mesh generation of CAE based on STL grid model is also realized,which will build up a good foundation for further development of CAE software.In addition,the proposed adaptive slicing algorithm will play an active key role in Rapid Prototyping technology in future.
