The preparation method and the application in different fields of the Potassium Ferrate?K2FeO4?through consulting literature. It especially plays an important role in water treatment. At the same time,it reacts with the organic pollutants following the 1e or 2e transfer mechanism in the different reaction process. In this paper,Potassium Ferrate as oxidant with organic reductant ethanediol,propanediol,2-Aminopyridine,2-Aminopyrimidine and gabapentin for the kinetics and mechanism of the oxidation in alkaline media by using spectrophotometry at different temperature. The effects of the concentrations of reductant, hydroxide ion and the ionic strength to the observed rate contant?kobs?,thus the possible reaction mechanism was proposed and the reaction rate equation was derived. The rate constants of the long response at different temperature and the thermodynamic activation parameters of ?H? and ?S? at298.2K were obtained which explaining the reaction mechanism. This study found that the kobs increased with increasing [reductant] and the reaction was the first order for oxidant and each reactant under the pseudo-first order reaction. However, increasing [OH-],the kobs decreased and the reaction was negative fraction order with respect to [OH-] which proving that there is a reaction of OH-formation before the reaction process. The kobs didn't change significantly with the ionic strength,so the salt effect was not significant. At the same time,Fe O42-was the main form of Fe?VI?in alkaline conditions that hydrolyzed to form HFeO4-complex with the strong oxidation ability,HFeO4-formed higher activity complex with reductant,so we regarded HFeO4-as the active center of the reaction system. In addition,we proved the conclusion by the experiment data and the reaction process. The kinetics of the redox reaction of potassium ferrate with organic compounds was discussed in this paper, which had a deeper understanding for the theory of kinetics. The possible reaction mechanism provides a wider field of application in the synthesis of organic oxidation. The most important thing was to provide more effective conditions forenvironmental pollution control to improve efficiency of the degradation of pollutes.
