Hemin is a heterocyclic compound having a physiological activity of large conjugated structure.Due to the special structure,hemin can improve the selectivity of proteins.In this work,a poly?Hemin-co-HEA-co-AA-co-DPHA-co-EDMA?monolithic column was prepared for high performance liquid chromatography using hemin,hydroxyethyl acrylate?HEA?and acrylic acid?AA?as monomers,ethylene glycol dimethacrylate?EDMA?and dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate?DPHA?as crosslinkers,n-propanol and methanol as porogens.The characterization of the monolithic column was investigated using scanning electron microscopy?SEM?and surface area and porosity.The result indicated that hemin had the effect on improving the performance of column for separating proteins.Subsequently,the performance of the monolithic column was tested with standard protein.At last,egg white and plasma were separated by the monolithic column.The results showed that the addition of hemin could improve the performance of the column for separation protein.A high performance liquid chromatography?HPLC?monolithic column was prepared by redox polymerization in a porogen system of n-propanol/polyethylene glycol 400?PEG-400?using styrene as monomer,dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate?DPHA?and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate?EDMA?as crosslinking agents.The monolith was characterized by scanning electron microscopy?SEM?,surface area and porosity.The results indicated that the monolith has homogeneous structure.The porosity and the surface area of the monolithic column was 75.86% and 15.41 m2g-1,respectively.The average pore size of the monolithic column determined by mercury intrusion porosimetry?MIP?was 2.1 ?m.Several alkylbenzenes and anilines were used to evaluate the column performance.Finally,the monolithic column was used to separate small molecules and macromolecules.
