The Impact Of Environmental Regulation On Corporate Environmental Information Disclosure

With the rapid development of economy,ecological problems and environmental damage have an increasing impact on society.In order to curb environmental pollution,the Chinese government has taken a series of measures to build the ecological civilization.As a facilitator of social and economic development,enterprises have a duty to protect social environment,Environmental disclosure makes it easier for the government and society to regulate the economic behavior of enterprises.To this end,the government has introduced a series of rules and regulations to restrain enterprises’ environmental disclosure behavior.Under this background,taken listed companies of heavy pollution industry in 2010-2015 in Zhejiang province as samples,this paper analyzes in the influence of environmental regulation enforcement and intensity on the quality of environmental information disclosure and environmental effects of listed companies,combined with the present status of environmental regulation.First,this paper expounds the background and significance of research,and both domestic and foreign theories related.Then it introduces the definition of environmental regulation and the effect of different definitions on the disclosure of enterprise environmental information.Then,the paper verifies the influence of environmental regulation enforcement and intensity by means of content analysis and two matched sample non-parametric test methods.The result shows that the implementation of environmental regulation and the increase of intensity can improve the quality of environmental information disclosure and environmental protection of listed companies.Finally,the policy suggestions for improving environmental information disclosure of listed enterprises in China are put forward in combination with the research result and the present situation of environmental regulation in China,which point out the limitations of this study as well.
