This thesis briefly discusses the development history and application of titanium metal,summarizes the status of production technology of sponge titanium in China,and introduces a combined method of reduction distillation of the reaction principle and process conditions.This paper focuses on the technical status quo of China's titanium sponge production with the analysis of all kinds of impurities in titanium sponge production process,such as the source of iron,oxygen,nitrogen and chlorine content.Iron impurity mainly comes from the raw material TiCl4,metal magnesium and equipments.Chlorine impurity mainly comes from the product MgCl2.Nitrogen impurity mainly comes from the residual air in raw materials and equipments,or the incoming air from improper operation or leak in the course of production.Oxygen impurity mainly comes from the raw materials,personnel operation,equipments and sampling operation.This study discusses the reasons why the high contents of above impurities in titanium sponge products,and puts forward effective process improvement measures according to the production practice.The main control measures of iron impurity are the infiltration of titanium for reduction reactor;shortening the furnace charging time;reasonable control of the feeding speed,accurate judgment of distillation end point;the main control measures of chlorine impurity are suitable feeding speed,in time emissions of MgCl2 after reduction,reasonable control of the distillation time,distillation temperature and water temperature,accurate judgment of distillation end point;the main control measures of nitrogen impurity are to avoid fault operation.ensure the equipment sealing performance,control of nitrogen content in raw materials;the main control measures of oxygen impurity are to guarantee the purity of raw materials,reasonable distillation temperature,are reduce the contact with air of distillation product.Through the practice of these measures,and solve the problem of high impurities content in titanium sponge products.On the aspect of titanium sponge production technology innovation,through the upgrading of insulating material,it is realized high efficiency and energy saving in the reduction-distillation furnace of titanium sponge production.Furthermore,this study expounded the measures to improve the competitiveness of enterprises,such as the expansion of the scale,technological innovation and environmental protection.International technology development of titanium industry and the international competitiveness of China's titanium industry are summarized.
