In recent years,it has been a research highligt to study selective ring opening of polycyclic alkanes aiming to improve cetane number of diesel fuels.Catalyst activity and product selectivity strongly depends on the size and morphology of active metal. In order to improve the ring opening selectivity of decalin,a systematical study on preparation of Pt nanocparticles by solvothermal synthesis has been carried out.The influence of morphology and size of Pt nanoparticles on hydrogenation and ring opening of decalin was investigated.First, the influences of Pt sources and concentration of amines on Pt nanocrystals?NC?were explored.Compared to Pt?II?precursor,Pt?IV?precursor could generate smaller Pt nanoparticles.High amine concentration would lead to multipods Pt nanocrystals with a higher density of corners and kinks atoms.By addition of Mn2?CO?10,a series of nanocubes with different diameters were obtained.Catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol of the prepared Pt nanoparticles with excess NaBH4 in aqueous medium was tested. The multipods Pt NC had higher activity than other morphologies.Second, the influence of support on ring opening of decalin over the supported Pt NC catalyst and the removal temperatures of surfactants were investigated. The ring opening of decalin over Pt/USY bifunctional catalysts was carried out in a fixed bed reactor under the reaction temperature between 200°C and 300°C and the hydrogen pressure at 4.0 MPa.The results revealed that the multipods had a higher activity than other morphologies. The results of catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol with excess NaBH4 in aqueous medium could provide a meaningful guidance on screening catalysts for ring opening of decalin.
